Making Contemporary Theatre- International Rehearsal Processes

On August 28, Melbourne Writers Festival launch Making Contemporary Theatre, a new publication from Manchester University Press. Subtitled International Rehearsal Processes, the book explores the creative processes of some of today's most significant international contemporary theatre artists and organisations.  NYID are featured alongside seminal international peers such as the UK's Forced Entertainment, Japan's Gekidan Kaitaisha, Belgium- Moroccan choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and the Quebecouis director Robert Lepage. NYID's creative processes are examined through the lens of the 2004 production Blowback that premiered in Melbourne and toured to Sydney Opera House in 2006.

The launch will be hosted by Robyn Archer with a reading of Unmaking Blowback- a visceral process for a political theatre from contributing author Dr Peter Eckersall.  The book launch will be combined with the official opening of HOIST.
